Frequently Asked Questions

What is VIPER and why the snake?

Vipers are known for their agility and swift movements. They are able to strike quickly and decisively. Snakes, including vipers, are often associated with adaptability and survival. They can thrive in various environments and conditions.  Viper convey qualities such as agility, speed, skill, strategy, intimidation, adaptability, distinctiveness, and mystique

What is the master coaching concept?

At VIPER we value all of our athletes and players. We also value our coaches. The master coaching concept ensures that every player is receiving the same level of coaching and it creates a consistency and uniformity in our program. Each practice will have a theme or area of focus. All athletes will engage in the same drills. If we have 4 teams practicing, we are all doing the same thing. This also allows us to train specific positions and skill sets, and for your athlete to train with ALL the VIPER  coaches and not just the coach for their team. There is time built within each practice for teams to focus on team concepts and scrimmage.  Any weekend practices are considered team practices.

When do practices start?

Our club season begins in November and goes through April. The dates are flexible at the moment pending the final tournament schedule.

We will not practice on the following days:

Thanksgiving – The entire week of Thanksgiving off
Christmas – The entire week of Christmas off
New Year’s Eve/Day – Off
Sunday/Godly Holidays – The club doesn’t practice on Sundays or Easter

What days are practices and what times will them be?

Practices are held 2-3 times a week in various combinations of days during the week depending on what is needed for the particular team.  Monday through Thursday practices are either from 5:00pm-7:00pm or from 7:00pm-9:00pm.  Saturday practices will be set by the coach.

When does travel start?

The tournaments begin in January and so travel will begin in January also.  There are some tournaments that are local and we are also trying our best to not schedule tournaments on back to back weekends.  Our last tournament will be around mid April.

Some teams do very little travel and some travel quite a bit.  it all depends on the team that your daughter makes.

What does the tournament schedule look like?

Each team is designed a travel/non-travel schedule based on the team.  You should receive a “tentative” tournament schedule no later than our parent meeting, but one should be available to you at tryouts.

Who will be my daughter’s coach?

You daughter’s coach is based on her age level.  At the moment our current coaching staff is listed on the website.  We will not know specifically who your daughter’s coach will be until we get past tryouts and makeup tryouts.  High school coaches are not allowed to coach their own players so, we must remain somewhat flexible until we see how the teams come together.

Where will we practice?

All practices will be held at our facility which is located at 165 Neely Street in Collierville.

What are the player fees and is there a payment plan?

Player fees range from $1300 to $2900 depending on the team you make and the amount of travel that team does. Our detailed club fees can be found here via the link below.

There is also a $325 non-refundable fee upon acceptance of a team spot. This fee goes towards securing your spot in a team as well as a player pack that will cover the player’s 2 jerseys, top and bottom of their warm-ups, spandex, kneepads, and 3 practice shirts.

Who do I contact if my daughter can’t make a practice or a tournament?

All tournaments and practices are mandatory!  However, in the case of an emergency, all volleyball related issues must be handled directly through the coach first.

Who do I contact if there is a concern about training, playing time, or my daughter’s coach? (please be sure to refer to the VIPER parent policy first)
